Circumferential Dissection of the Ascending Aorta - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This illustration shows a coronal section of the heart and lungs. There are two lacerations of the inner layer of the aorta and separation of the inner layer from the middle layer of the aorta (dissection) and at the level of the arch the aortic wall ruptures and blood flows out and into the pericardial sac and into the left pleural sac resulting in cardiac tamponade.
