This illustration depicts the pre-operative and post-operative conditions of the left shoulder, focusing on rotator cuff injuries and surgical interventions. Pre-operative conditions include a non-union of the acromial apophysis, acromioclavicular impingement of the supraspinatus muscle caused by spurring, and instability of the acromion with superior displacement of the humeral head leading to rotator cuff tears. Post-operative interventions include resection of the distal clavicle, anterior acromion, and coracoacromial and acromioclavicular tendons. Surgical reconstruction involves fixation of the acromion using screws and Dacron tape, alongside rotator cuff tear repair. In cases of recurrent rotator cuff tears with widespread adhesions, adhesiolysis and repeated rotator cuff repair are performed.
